Game of Thrones Has a Season 2 Premiere Date

Mark your calendars with the blood of your enemies: Season 2 of Game of Thrones begins April 1. HBO made the announcement today at its Television Critics Association press tour panel. The second season of the award-winning program and TV.com favorite will focus on A Clash of Kings, the second book in author George R.R. Martin's fantasy novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire." Expect kings clashing and one hell of a water fight.

HBO has also revealed the premiere dates for a few of the other projects it has coming out soon. Game Change, the HBO film chronicling John McCain and Sarah Palin's 2008 unsuccessful presidential campaign, premieres March 10. It stars Ed Harris and Julianne Moore as eerie facsimiles of McCain and Palin, and is based on the book of the same name.

New comedy Girls, about a gaggle of twenty-something chicks, kicks off April 15. It stars Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, and Allison Williams. I wish I knew more about this series so I could impart my knowledge unto you, but when it comes to Girls, I don't know a damned thing.

Finally, Veep will debut April 22. The new comedy stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a former senator who becomes vice president. Tony Hale (Arrested Development's Buster), Anna Chlumsky (My Girl), and Reid Scott (My Boys) also star. I've heard at least one person I respect say it's good.

But really, these bits of news are all about Game of Thrones! So let's make sure you have this stuck in your head for the rest of the day:

I finally finished A Feast for Crows yesterday. It took me forever to get through this book!
